Since working for our Family Dispute Resolution team as a Resolution Coordinator in Wellington in 2019, Wendy shares insights into her role, responsibilities, and passions.
“I’m one of four that provide Family Dispute Resolution services. I love my role and how we’re tamariki driven and focused, where we provide an out of court service to parents, whānau and caregivers that enable them to create parenting agreements through mediation. Whilst my role varies, my core responsibility is speaking to clients who call in, often stressed and anxious, and I feel privileged that I’m able to guide them through the family mediation space and journey for the overall benefit of their tamariki/whānau. I also liaise with mediators and process their mediation paperwork, generating outcome documents that parties can utilise in court. I also love identifying process improvements and creating solutions that enable us to deliver a more streamlined and efficient service.”
“Believe me, there’s never a dull day within the Family Dispute Resolution team. I feel really lucky that we’re a close-knit team who work hard and play (ten-pin bowls, movies and picnics), and that we have a stunning view of Wellington harbour. I love that we sit amongst lots of beautiful office plants and that the team “tolerate” my poor singing!”
“Kia mau ki te tokanga nui-a-noho
There’s no place like home.”
Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) services help families reach agreement on parenting arrangements after (or during) a separation or divorce, without the need to go to court.
This service has been designed to support parents, carers and/or guardians to resolve conflict which makes things much less stressful for everyone involved, especially the children, by avoiding the delays, conflict and expense that the court process can cause.
