Counselling Services

We could all use a little help sometimes.

At Family Works, we provide counselling for individuals, including adults, teenagers and specialist children’s therapy, as well as relationship or couples counselling and family therapy/counselling.

Our professional and supportive counsellors provide an unbiased ear to listen to your concerns and help you make positive changes in your life. If you would like to talk to someone, or want to refer another person, call our friendly team or email an enquiry.

In many cases, the sessions are able to be subsidised or provided free of charge thanks to funding from government and the community.

We can support you to:

  • Acknowledge and explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviour.
  • Become more self-aware, including thinking about your values and motivations.
  • See patterns and make connections in your relationships and behaviour.
  • Set goals and learn practical tools and strategies that will help you make positive changes in your life, using the strengths and resources you already have.

Counselling for individuals

Anyone facing personal, social or mental health challenges may benefit from counselling. Our therapists will support you to identify strengths and resources you can access, and then find solutions to the challenges you’re facing.

Counselling for families

Family Works counsellors help parents, families and whānau to build stronger relationships and resolve problems in a safe environment. We will listen to your concerns and work with your family together, or individually, to make positive changes.

Tamariki & young people

Sometimes young people need an extra bit of support. Our specialised youth therapists work with children, teenagers and their families to deal with a range of issues that may be affecting behaviour and their enjoyment of life. Counselling in Schools (also known as Kōrero Manaaki) is also available in certain schools.
